My name's Michelle, I'm a freelance writer and film critic based in Toronto.
I'm currently completing an MA in Education in the Field of Applied Linguistics at Western University. I graduated with a specialist degree in psycholinguistics and a minor in French from the University of Toronto. I was a staff writer for my university's newspaper The Varsity for three years.
My writing sits at the intersection of pop culture, identity, and linguistics. My articles have appeared in The Walrus, Teen Vogue, i-D, The Toronto Star, The Verge, Business Insider, and Bitch Media.
In 2023, I was named the Telefilm Canada Emerging Film Critic by the Toronto Film Critics Association.
The most important thing to know about me is that my two favourite albums are Crack-Up by Fleet Foxes and Ys by Joanna Newsom.
